Well Suited

by | Sep 10, 2018

Suits have gotten a bad rep lately, and for some good reason. More and more people are working from home in the comfort of their Adidas track pants and no longer have a need for the power suits of years gone by. A suit is probably the first big adult purchase your parents got you after college graduation so you could be “prepared for the career world.” Besides, suits are stuffy and boring, right? They’re meant for dads or lawyers or corporate investment bankers, not the rest of us, right? Wrong!

Now, no one is suggesting you run out and by a dull, black single breasted pantsuit and expect to turn heads on the street. You don’t want to look like you’re channeling Miranda Hobbes at the Sex and the City gals’ daily lunch meet up. But you certainly can rock a stylish two piece in 2018.  The key is to re-think your idea of a power suit. Instead of the classic neutrals, reach for some of the bold and bright hues that are currently rocking the runways.  Neons aren’t going anywhere any time soon and this is a great way to embrace them. Instead of the old ballet flat or round toe heel, why not try a block heel or a white leather sneaker for a fresh take? And forget the boring button down top, opting instead for a simple tee or camisole.  These pieces help break up the look and give you the day-to-night versatility everyone wants. Even better, you can wear the pieces separately for an easy and fun look that’s perfect for so many occasions. If you’re having a girls night out, those pink suit pants are perfect with a black cami and belt bag, or try the pink jacket on its own with some jeans and sneakers for an easy everyday look.  It’s classic and unexpected all at the same time. And if you’re still unsure, remember that Busy Philipps is rocking a pink pantsuit on the cover of her upcoming book, which should give you all the reassurance you need. The end.
